Orvieto, from the Etruscans to the 21st century: a “Classico” that narrates a territory

Tasting evening on 28 September 2020

The first tasting evening after the forced stop due to Covid-19 we have dedicated to Orvieto Classico, one of the white wines with the most history behind it.

With our host  Riccardo Gabriele, who takes care of the communication for the producers of this wine with ancient traditions, we have participated at discovering its new style, that wanted to give back voice to the territory.

We met the wineries  Madonna del latteSergio MotturaTenuta le VeletteCantine Neri and Azienda Agricola Palazzone , appreciating their captivating, opulent, savoury wines, with complex and varied bouquets, including a range of aromas from floral to citrus, with light spicy and vegetable notes, an expression of the typical grape varieties grown between Umbria and Lazio: Grechetto and Procanico.

Rich and generous, the botrytized wines reflect the freshness of classic wines.

At the tasting we were happy to combine a typical Piedmonts product, hosting Maurizio Bogliolo, "ambassador" of the Consortium for the Protection of "Robiola di Roccaverano" Cheese, with whom we have tasted two different maturations of the famous robiola, appreciating its versatility towards wines from Orvieto.

Our thanks go to our guests, to their willingness to introduce us to their excellent products and above all to our Onavists who have not lost the pleasure of meeting each other to face new adventures in the world of tasting and do not stop searching, together with us, for excellence at the bottom of a glass.
