The Grand Finale for harvest 2020

We have finished the harvest with two of our most important wines:

 

Sucàno – the main component in this noble cuvèe is Cabernet Franc, matured for 24 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux and for two more years in the bottle.
The densely coloured but also brilliant red wine has a subtle yet complex nose with hints of black cherries, coffee beans, cocoa powder, combined with spicy notes of pepper, laurel and sage.
Its taste is harmonious, elegant and sophisticated, with soft, round, silky tannin and a long finish. The slightly piquant and chocolatey taste, the scent of berries and figs, and the deliciously integrated sweetness of the fruits are reminiscent of great Bordeaux. Its body is round, full and makes this beautiful dark wine incredibly pleasant to taste.
Such well-structured, but fine and elegant wine can only be produced from perfect, fully matured grapes. Every sip reveals a new nuance of unique quality to the connoisseur and the optimally integrated tannins promise a very good aging potential.
The Sucàno goes together very well with red meat and venison dishes, aged cheese but also chocolate desserts.

Syrah - Axel Cronauer and Leon Zwecker immediately recognised the unique micro-climate and special terroir of Monte Landro on Lake Bolsena. The volcanic soil of the old crater lake, the perfectly south-facing and slightly sloping mountainside, the harmonious effect of the large lake's climate and the drying, soothing Tramontana wind led to the idea of attempting a large, elegant Syrah and of creating  thereby an Italian "Hermitage".

In the spring of 2019, after 18 months of maturing in French oak barrels, the 2017 vintage was bottled -  the first official vintage from Monte Landro. The result is astonishing and inspiring: a full-bodied, rich and warm Syrah cuvée with the cool elegance and minerality of the unique terroir of Lake Bolsena.
